The Decline of British Sea Power

It’s 100% true that when you lose certain senses, the ones that remain become heightened. By now my sense of touch is uncanny and my hearing is more amplified than ever. My sight is completely gone, and my tongue & nose are all but useless. I’m not sure how long I’ve been gone now. Nor do I know where I am. The only thing I can say with certainty is that I’m on an Ocean. Maybe the Atlantic, maybe the Pacific. That doesn’t matter though, what matters is my vessel.

Ahhh my vessel. The only thing between myself and the cold, hard hand...I wasn’t sure what type of vessel I had the (mis)fortune of finding myself on when I came to. Powerful and reckless at once, then calm and sturdy next. It seemed an endless amount of sailing possibilities were within my reach. My vessel could perform equally well under different circumstances, as the sea dictated. For quite a while, I didn’t realize the detail and craftsmanship that went into the construction of my vessel. Maybe I had to wait for my sense of touch to develop to realize the beauty underneath me all along. Whoever constructed my vessel was definitely a student of history. I could sense that the design had drawn upon previous works, while adding a distinct individual touch at the same time. I’m starting not to care that I’m lost on the sea now. I’m beginning to quite like my vessel. I sense much glorious sailing ahead.
