Tiny Mix Tapes Is Hiring!

Tiny Mix Tapes is on the lookout for another batch of music lovers to join our collective. We’re searching for dedicated writers who are willing to devote their time and energy to make TMT better and stronger. Although experience is definitely a plus, we’re much more concerned with finding passionate music lovers who also share a passion for writing. Please note that all positions are currently unpaid. Still interested? Fantastic! All you have to do is follow the steps below and you’ll be that much closer to fiddling with Keith Kawaii’s nose hairs and eating briskets out of Liz Louche’s lap.
Positions are available in the following areas:
Music Reviews
We are searching for knowledgeable and consistent music reviewers to cover our endless sea of promos, especially those who consider themselves experts in a certain style (like hip-hop or noise, for example). Approaching music reviewing as a form of cultural critique (not purely as aesthetic judgment) is a plus, as well as if you can bring something new to the table. (We’re mainly only taking on U.S. writers, but feel free to give it a shot.)
News Writers
We’re always always looking for good news writers. Satire and irreverence is important, but so is a writer who can simply handle facts in an informative, interesting way. Writers knowledgeable about the industry side of music doesn’t hurt too, and if you’re free during the days, well then, shit, submit an application!
Film Reviewers
We’re especially looking for film writers in NY, but will definitely look at applicants from anywhere in the U.S., especially cities like LA, Portland, Baltimore, etc.
Please email us the following information:
1. Tell us about yourself (name, age, location, current plans, near-future plans, etc).2. Let us know for which section you’d like to write (news, music reviews, film, etc.). Also list second and third choices if you want, especially those of you applying to be a reviewer.
3. Detail your writing experience.
4. Detail your music (or film) knowledge.
5. Please include a sample of your writing, preferably one that best matches the style of the section for which you’re applying. Please avoid sending attachments.
SEND EVERYTHING IN THE BODY OF AN EMAIL HERE.
All the information you’ll ever need to know about TMT will be explained if you’re hired. And if you’re worried about whether or not you can meet deadline requirements, feel free to inquire before working on your application. Any other questions? Email us! Good luck!
