It’s almost peaceful when oily muck along the water’s surface is completely still, like blacktop in a parking lot. But activity bubbles in the center and ripples crack and surge the surface. Something is trying to escape this elementally fucked doom. As it reaches the surface, wings span about three feet in length, stretch into the new air, and it begins to flap the pollution frantically off. Gorgeously, it’s a majestically large bald eagle. And with each wind it gusts with wings, oil sloshes back into the treachery below, revealing itself little by little, returning to the world.
Davey Harms traverses the doom of repetitive creation. Sorta. I mean, consciously Harms is aware of the entrapment that is art-for-money by even entitling his latest release This Loop is Gonna be the Death of Me. It sounds nothing like a mixtape or car commercial. This Loop is Gonna be the Death of Me is purity on a whole other level. There’s searing noises. Pump in a realm that supersedes future. A wingspan that engulfs consistency in an nonfunctional, yet acceptable way. As long as you’re used to this type of affair.
