Finally! After hearing this in just about every Boxed and Astral Black set this year, DJ Milktray’s “Hotel” is getting a release via Astral Black later this month. Glasgow based Milktray rhythm ‘n’ grimes up that 2003 R. Kelly feature and turns it into something that is as sensual (in the best and worst of ways) as the Burberry fabric that glosses the EP’s cover. This track actually feels like it could have been made in 2003, and it’s nice to see a new producer fully embracing that time with just the smallest dash of irony. Rather than reworking some old R&B song because he feels nostalgia, Milktray actually brings to life a somewhat forgotten track and improves upon it, rather than simply reminding us of something better in the past.
