With all the attention paid last year to the Grammy-nominated “Club Goin Up on a Tuesday” and the self-titled EP from which it came, the stories circulating about Makonnen rarely look back at his fascinating past. In fact, you only had to go back roughly one month from the release of his self-titled to discover Drink More Water 4, an incredible EP that I felt was his first major step into the spotlight (it’s the first to feature cream-of-the-crop producers from Atlanta). I mean, compare that release to Drink More Water 3, which was released in January 2014 — it’s like a whole different ballgame, motherfucker!
My point? My point is that I’m excited, because Super Chef Makonnen is now prepping the fifth installment of the Drink More Water series. No release date confirmed yet, but he just shared a new, chilled-out number called “Super Clean.” According to Noisey, the song was produced by Makonnen and Phantom Power. Check her out here:
