♫♪  Mercury Drums - “Contact Work”

Any time I come across some worthwhile techno from the Midwest, and specifically my sort of hometown, Milwaukee, WI, I have to post about it on these hallowed pages. The last time I came across such a track was back in October of 2k14. While Andy Petr technically is a New Yorker these days, Wisconsin has such a drought of worthy electronic projects that it can and should cling to anything with even the remotest of connections. Well now the drought is over, my friends! Coming straight out of the Cream City is a bangin’ set of tracks from Mercury Drums, a project from Max Holiday as part of his Close Up of the Serene label (which also functions as a regular club night around town). “Contact Work,” the opener of the EP, is a truly sick jam. With a bass-centric sound, “Contact Work” flows, bumps, and grinds like the 3AM raver I imagine it to be. My sources tell me that the next Close Up of the Serene “Precognition” party will be January 15 at Quarter’s Rock n Roll Palace.
