GOLDEN LIVING ROOM is back at it again, doing some HARD splits this year, but not enough (yet) to halve himself. This time, he’s fucking with MEWL (which contains CVLTS member and Beer On The Rug co-owner) on the light sly of heavy. Like how a symbol is circulated with the tip of a drum stick, creating a surrounding sound that’s light, but also encompassing — that’s the entire half of MEWL’s music on this split via TAHRC. Vocals and piano interwoven between airy atmospheres of gravitational weight of sound. If it were ever possible, MEWL harnesses this matter in music with a warmth that is beyond just the recording and mixing process, but something held in the art of creating each track to blend.
Flippin’ up to track eight, GOLDEN LIVING ROOM begins his half with a bit of levity. Typically noisier, dronier, videogamIER sounds expected to come from old GOLDEN LIVING ROOM, but really just a traipse on that drum kit. Slicking out some solid mixture of the three previously expected sounds with a beatier vibe. Moving bass too. Ahh, this bass is AWESOME. Love how unaccentuated it is too. Totally non-obtrusive.
