The latest burner from L.A.’s 100% Silk comes courtesy of Temples, a.k.a. Portland, OR based, Avalon Kalin. Although this is the first Temples release on Silk, Kalin released a 12-inch on the label under the Polonaise moniker (with fellow PDX-er Scott Goodwin), and his Northwest style fits in perfectly with Silk’s smooth dancefloor aesthetic. The track below, “Earrings II,” is a crisp, shuffling techno banger that contains the best of Temples’ cerebral 2012 LP, Temples I-VII, while pushing his sound towards a denser, all-night party vibe. Avalon, Scott Goodwin, and Strategy (another Portland producer and Silk alum) are just a few examples of the great dance music coming out of the Pacific Northwest.
