♫♪  Trina - Gone Mad (ft. Brittney T)

Trina’s back, and she’s going as hard as ever. She’s adapted to the times while still maintaining her signature flow, but this time with a higher BPM that’s more akin to grime than hip-hop, yet it still sounds like classic Trina hip-hop. The track flies by even though it’s almost four minutes, a testament to Trina’s tenacity. Some people are born to rap, and others, well…compare this to someone like Iggy Azalea. You can’t even compare her to Trina, or even to virtually unknown Brittney T, who holds her own on the feature. Also, can we talk about how this song is literally about money and fame, the most stereotyped thing to rap about, yet it still sounds fresh? And the beat is so sterotypically hip-hop, and so delightfully throwback, yet it still seems clear this could have only been made in 2014. There’s such a clear relationship between performer and audience in “Gone Mad” and that’s how it sells. Trina seems to have been influenced by the club producers that are obsessed with her (Jubilee and Rizzla, for example); the danceability of this track is so high. I’m peeing my pants in anticipation for the October mixtape.
