After having released his incredible debut album Black Light Spiral earlier this year, Untold (a.k.a. Jack Dunning) returns with a mixtape “addendum” titled Echo in the Valley. In contrast to Black Light’s aggressive, synth-noise workouts, Echo in the Valley is an understated affair, marked by dented harmonies, static brushstrokes, and concentrated air shot through glass tubes. It’s tentative and provisional, patient and lurking, looped phrasings from down below.
