♫♪  Aquaserge - Laisse ça être

Pack your little suitcase, we’re going on a trip. Multi-disciplinary French-pop ensemble Aquaserge have returned from the outer planes and have brought back Laisse ça être, a new album’s worth of heady psychedelic excursions. Sleek, smart, and groovy enough to freak out some squares, the record bridges the long history of psych, sitting atop a prism where Stereolab, Os Mutantes, and Hot Rats intersect. But beyond any such forebears, Laisse has its own thing going on, both tight and fussy, layered with smooth horns and complicated grooves, sorta jetset and sorta space age and still totally contemporary. It feels cool — new shag carpet cool, tailored suit cool, sunglasses at nighttime cool.

Tiny Mix Tapes is excited to be streaming the album in its entirety. Buy some extra gin and invite people over tonight, dig?

Laisse ça être is out today from Crammed Discs. Also, don’t forget to catch up with the video for album track “Virage Sud,” directed by Audrey Ginestet, conveniently linked to right here.
