From Oslo to Buenos Aires, sound travels in mysterious ways. “By-way of” seems more like an introduction these days. Somewhat like The Odyssey only with a way short last name, Benjamin Finger spans an interesting language in sound today that hits at the root of most productionist dreams, only expanding the horizons of mixing found sounds, or creation-verse-naturalism as a conflict of each other. And all though “Vocal Limited” deals in vocal samplings paired with other textual sonics, Benjamin Finger transcends the idea of “epic story, bro.” Not in some unfathomable means of story telling, no, but more so on the expansive layers, paired within a mirage of a singular abandon. As if “Vocal Limited” were mixed how some people do puzzles upside down. Benjamin Finger has such a vibe with backward-motion that it only seems necessary for him to digress a collective sound before pushing it beyond the means of Motion Reverse.
