As if it were a title of the newest strain of reefer, Green Moon EP hits like a deep bong blow after drawing off some hard vape utilizing that water-tool attachment, then furiously flinging your feet across the waxed living room floor in them dress socks in practice for the next Tekk DJz event. Future rhythms spinning the low- and high-ends of footwork trickery, DMY x Manny x Jalen are all three magicians of the genre, dropping gems like a hailstorm of samples and synthetics, oozing the digital game like saying “modern” means anything but progressive.
The first and title track “Green Moon” building in beat and vocal articulation, smearing the lines of melody and rythm, sorta like how one uses a piano for percussion rather than melody. “Brothers” taking a cruise intro from the backseat to out the window, hollerin’ at the biddies and ditties about town, feeling a real wavy-hand-in-wind effect that also flexes musical aerodynamics. Then “Got Me Right” drops and tests all the EQs your system/headphones have to offer, drawing upon the classic juke vocal-sample game while pummeling eardrums with insatiable bass. But closing on “Seven” is how one knows Green Moon EP is a short-but-sweet-AND-complete piece of work, mingling all of the previously presented track masteries in a colossal amount of peak swaggery in terms of sound variation and true testament to the genre.
