♫♪  DVA - “NIPOMO”

Finally, the video DVA’s title track from last year’s album, Nipomo has arrived (!!!), and to be honest, I’m still not finished flipping the tape either. With the same creative gusto that “Mulatu” bestowed upon the world, the new imaginative charisma of “Nipomo” tells the (roundabout) story of lust, discovery, mutation, and hidden treasures of the mind. Experiments of the hive mind. A visual interpretation of synesthesia — although it’s totally unnecessary, as DVA tractor-beams streams of color into even the clearest of minds. But victory (I believe) prevails for the Czech duo, as they not only destroy these mechanical flying perpetrators of post-humanity, but their album will probably also be playing, because it’s too good to put down. And if you snagged a copy of Nipomo from Northern Spy last year, then it’s time you seek out Botanicula if you haven’t already. Part of me wishes I knew what they were sing about (most of the time), but if that were true, I’d have looked up the lyrics long ago — only that’d spoil the whole mystery, and Czech folk by way of DVA is the way I like to keep it.

Scope “Nipomo” below, and keep your ears open for more DVA, who are currently on a New Zealand tour and heading to Australia.
