Atoms for Peace
“Love Will Tear Us Apart” [Joy Division cover]
Last night, Thom Yorke and his Atoms for Peace project performed Joy Division’s “Love Will Tear Us Apart” at The Fox Theater in Oakland, CA. Yorke hasn’t sang this low since the Throat-Job Incident of 1994. [via Stereogum]

Conan O'Brien
“Creep” [by Radiohead]
Conan O’Brien, no relation to Ed O’Brien, soundchecked Radiohead’s “Creep” the other day. He’s currently on his “Legally Prohibited from Being Funny on Television Tour.” (Fun fact: Radiohead was the first musical guest on Late Night with Conan O’Brien). Look for Conan on TBS, a “very funny” station, in the fall.
The Flaming Lips
“Powerless”
“Powerless” is about the most un-friendly pop single you can imagine, but The Flaming Lips have nonetheless made a video for it. But at least the video is something all of us can relate to (who hasn’t been blindfolded and tied to a chair in the middle of a field?). The track is off Embryonic, the band’s 12th studio album. Fol Chen
“In Ruins”
Fol Chen are set to release Part II: The New December on July 6 via Asthmatic Kitty. They’ve been described as “cool,” “pretty sweet,” and “interesting” by my friend Jonathan Fielding.
