Lots of killing on these tapes. Side A: Homocide Suite Side B: Suicide Suite

I had a worrying amount of fun compiling a murder-suicide mixtape. Side A is loud and largely either angry or sinister, starting with this year’s best 10-minute lead single from the Knife. The next 3 tracks are big, loud, and aggressive, while the last song on Side A is more paranoid, like the first one. Side B is a mix of angry and quiet/sad, culminating in this hypothetical person’s lowest point in life when their very real sadness is glaringly contrasted with the world’s best fake party anthem. Not only does it reinforce how alone this person is, but it also could be the world suggesting that it could be a good night for everyone if this person met their end.

Side A:

01. The Knife - “Full of Fire” (Shaking The Habitual)
02. Boris - “Pink” (Pink)
03. Smashing Pumpkins - “Marquis In Spades” (Zero [Single])
04. A Place To Bury Strangers - “To Fix The Gash In Your Head” (A Place To Bury Strangers)
05. Porcupine Tree - “The Creator Has A Mastertape” (In Absentia)
06. Dat’r - “Turn Up The Ghosts (Parts I & II)” (Turn Up The Ghosts)

Side B:

01. Bernays Propaganda - “Kill Me!” (Happiness Machines)
02. Flaming Lips - “You Are Alone” (The Terror)
03. Moby - “That’s When I Reach For My Revolver” (Animal Rights)
04. U2 - “Wake Up Dead Man” (Pop)
05. Radiohead - “How To Disappear Completely” (Kid A)
06. Black Eyed Peas - “I Got A Feeling” (The E.N.D.)

Mix Tapes

Here’s the deal: Send us a thought, phrase, question, quotation, or whatever else, and if one of our mix tape robots fancies your suggestion, the crazy set of circuits might just make a mix tape out of it — well, at least a tracklisting for a mix tape out of it. Request a mix here, and help us compile mixes here.
