Songs with literary references to play in the independent book store where I work

Hi Book Nerd. A lot of these should be obvious. For some of the more obscure ones, I added a note. The last song was more of a thematic thing. I eschewed the whole Led Zepplin/Lord of the Rings tie-in, as (from an indie bookstore customer perspective) I would never shop at your bookstore if I had to listen to "The Battle of Evermore" and "Misty Mountain Hop" on loop. Hope that's ok.

01. Radiohead - "Paranoid Android" (OK, Computer) - a la Hitchhiker's Guide
02. The Great Outdoors - "Chekhov and I" (Food, Booze, and Entertainment)
03. The Smiths - "Cemetery Gates" (The Queen is Dead)
04. Kate Bush - "Wuthering Heights" (The Kick Inside)
05. Kris Delmhorst - "Galuppi Baldessare" (Strange Conversation) - from an album based entirely on Robert Browning poems
06. The Police - "Don't Stand So Close To Me" (Zenyatta Mondatta)
07. Throw Me The Statue - "Lolita" (About to Walk)
08. Noah and the Whale - "Jocasta" (Peaceful, the World Lays Me Down) - Jocasta was the mother of Oedipus. Counts, right?
09. The Decemberists - "Billy Liar" (Her Majesty the Decemberists)
10. Margot & The Nuclear So & So's - "Bookworm" (The Daytrotter Sessions EP)

Mix Tapes

Here’s how The Automatic Mix Tapes Generator works: Send us a thought, phrase, question, quotation, or whatever else, and if one of our mix tape robots fancies your suggestion, the crazy set of circuits might just make a mix tape out of it — well, at least a tracklisting for one. Request a mix tape here, and help us compile mix tapes here.
