When George Orwell wrote the line, “if you want a vision of the future, imagine a boot stamping on a human face... forever,” he was probably listening to Ratos de Porão. Probably. That’s pretty much what Homem Inimigo Do Homem feels like; getting curb-stomped by a quartet of righteously pissed Brazilians who have been practicing their shit-kicking techniques for the last 25 odd years. The throwback hardcore riffs -- classic to Ratos’ mid-career -- are enough to make any private go Gomer Pyle in basic training and take out a few higher ups. Sure, I can’t understand a single word they’re saying, but with the velocity and ferocity of their delivery, I doubt I’d fare much better if they were singing in English. You can get the basic idea, though. If not, then the image of a Mikkky Mouse ears-wearing, tranquilizer dart-riddled mutant donkey with a bleeding, lifeless pop emo kid in its fanged jaws circling by the banner “at war against emo shit” should remove any suspicion of their intentions. Since South America is the next phase for U.S. invasion/world domination (presumably), it’s nice to know Brazil has such a consistent and persistent punk force for their movement to huddle around. Preach on, brothers. Head-butt that boot into submission!
