Anthology Recordings preps reissues from The Stroke Band and Rudiger Lorenz, finally bringing Germany and Georgia together

The folks at Anthology Recordings (who you may recall as the freshly revived reissue label at Mexican Summer) have been hard at it again scouring the globe for long-forgotten gems in dusty secondhand record stores. Lucky for us, we don’t have to venture out into these obscure record depositories and stir up our allergies. Double lucky for us that Anthology Recordings has impeccable taste in music and is now ready to present two brand-new reissues.

The first is Green and Yellow by The Stroke Band. Never heard of them? Well, they’re a late-70s art punk band from South Georgia fronted by Bruce Joyner, and they played their only live show in a Georgian strip club. In addition to Joyner (who went on to record with Sire Records in the 80s), The Stroke Band’s other members have gone on to produce records for like-minded souls such as Sonic Youth, Teenage Fanclub, Hole, Screaming Trees, and The Black Keys. So if any of those bands tick any of your boxes then you’ll probably dig The Stroke Band.

If Southern art-punk isn’t really your thing, then rest assured that the other forthcoming release from Anthology is Rudiger Lorenz’ new-age synth opus Invisible Voices. Described as “a vision of aural wanderlust, built for the journey and one’s reflection on it afterwards,” Invisible Voices is one of Lorenz’ key releases that he put together in his downtime from his day job as a pharmacist. Hang on… pharmacist… new-age synth wizardry… built for the journey and one’s reflections on it… you join the home chemistry lab experimentation dots.

Both records are due in stores September 9 and are up for pre-order on the label website now.
