BREAKING: did you hear that Arcade Fire won the Grammy for Album of the Year?! Yes, fellow Katy Perry fans, I’m afraid to say they did, and to celebrate the victory Arcade Fire are traveling the US to show off the statue and rub the accolade in the face of every Eminem fanatic across the country.
The band, who won the award for last year’s Merge-distributed The Suburbs (TMT Review), have already ordered the construction of a Pope-mobile-style car that will caravan the award through all 50 states as it trails the band on their month-long tour. The award will also be on view at every gig, secured behind bullet-proof glass and two guard-tigers, spinning on a spot-lit marble rotunda.
Finally, as the ultimate commemoration, the award will be copied and mass-produced, then sent to the homes of every single person who bought the album, or watched the Grammys, because Arcade Fire are just so darn proud; also, they feel that the Grammy is unquestionable proof that indie rock never died.
The tour includes previously announced dates at Coachella, a three-night stand at Chicago’s UIC Pavillion, and an appearance at New Orleans’ Jazz and Heritage Festival.
