Archers of Loaf reunite for a few minutes, no big whoop

Like every other hard working, cult status-y group of heroic indie rock bro-dogs, North Carolina’s Archers of Loaf were contractually obligated to split up at the end of the glorious 90s. And even though they could have waited until each member’s death to be reunited in the Kingdom of Heaven, the band apparently decided to hedge their teleological bets and play now instead.

As Pitchfork reports, this past Saturday, they gave the hometown audience at the Cat’s Cradle in Carrboro, North Carolina a bit of a surprise when they mysteriously appeared on-stage as the opening act for The Love Language and proceeded to dole out thick-hewn slices of classic, steaming hot Loaf. No official full-on reunion plans have been announced as of yet, so it looks like we’ll be left wondering for a little while whether or not this spontaneous show was just a curious one-off or not.

Now, I can hear you asking, “‘Mysteriously appeared?’ Does that mean there were fog machines??” Well, see for yourself, man. A YouTube user posted videos and a full setlist from the gig. Which… I’ve gotta say, really makes my job a lot easier. You can take it from here, YouTube usermumblepop. Later, everyone. (There were no fog machines).
