Avey Tare's Slasher Flicks take a stab at a debut album, Enter the Slasher House, kill it on first single, mutilate fans on spring tour!

Hey there! In case you clicked on this link by accident, let me show you around and explain what’s going on before you leave. See, this dude Avey Tare (a musician who used to be famous for singing and gesticulating-around in a strange and silly-sounding band called Animal Collective) recently teamed with keyboard player and singer Angel Deradoorian (of Dirty Projectors and Deradoorian), and drummer Jeremy Hyman (of Ponytail and Dan Deacon) to form a new band. From there, they basically did what people always do: gave the band an obvious name (Avey Tare’s Slasher Flicks), moved to Los Angeles, and banged out an album together based on Avey’s acoustic-guitar demos. Then together, the goofy “jazz power trio” (that’s really what the press release says) went and co-produced and recorded the songs together live at the Lair studio “using only minimal overdubs,” which apparently resulted in a “spooky dynamism.”

I know what you’re thinking, and no, the resulting album unfortunately isn’t called Spooky Dynamism. It’s actually called Enter the Slasher House, and it’s coming out via Domino on April 8 in the US (and April 7 every place else) on vinyl, CD, download, the whole works. And heck, if you’re still reading this, you’ll probably also be interested to know that you can check out the first single, “Little Fang”, down below. In addition, you can totally pre-order the album from Domino on CD and “double heavyweight vinyl” and get an instant download of the single right now! (Wow, you’re actually gonna do it, aren’t you? I guess I must be absolutely killing this story!)

Oh, and the band is also going on tour soon. And since I’ve convinced you to stay and read all this and become a HUGE fan of this band you’ve never heard of before just now, you’ll probably also be interested to know that they’re selling ticket + album combo-paks at their website right now as well. Enjoy. And you’re welcome! No need to thank me. Just doing my job.
