Holiday shopping season is just over the horizon, so it’s time to start thinking about gifts for friends and family. Well, let TMT clue you into the must-have gift of the 2012 season: an exclusive split 7-inch from Boris and Asobi Seksu. Just think of the joy on your grandmother’s face when she opens her package from you to find that gleaming disk of pressed vinyl emblazoned with the names of a Japanese noise trio and a Japanese-named shoegaze band! It may be the highlight of her year. Same goes for all those other folks lucky enough to be granted a gift from you this year. You’re awesome.
The split record will be out via Sargent House on Black Friday (November 23) as part of a Record Store Day promotion and will feature Boris doing an Asobi Seksu cover, with the reverse happening on the flipside, so plan on getting in line as early as possible to secure your copies. If your local record store opens at noon, you probably want to aim to arrive around 2:00 AM the night prior (pro tip). Come prepared, but not armed.
To bring even more yuletide cheer into your life, Boris will be touring through jolly old England and other swathes of Western Europe in December, including stops at Camber Sands’ ATP and the State-X New Forms Festival in the Netherlands. Full tourdates and 7-inch details below.
