Built to Spill cover old songs in 1980s synth-pop style, BECAUSE THEY CAN

Hey guys, writing new songs can be really hard! Especially when you’ve been a band for as many years as Built to Spill. So BTS frontman Doug Martsch and bassist Brett Nelson decided that, at this point, it’d be a pretty cool idea to cover their own songs. Wait, what? Yes, cover their own songs, but in a 1980s synth-pop style. Martsch and Nelson apparently reworked seven Built to Spill songs and are going to release the new recordings as the Electronic Anthology Project.

The album will be available to purchase at Built to Spill’s merch table during their current tour and from CD Baby. You can preview the songs now on their MySpace.

The Electronic Anthology Project tracklisting:

01. I Dim Our Angst In Agony (Goin’ Against Your Mind)
02. Age I Felt (Get a Life)
03. At the Where (The Weather)
04. Eels (Else)
05. What If Your Dull (I Would Hurt a Fly)
06. A Gloss Siren (Israel’s Song)
07. Far Path Tall Sign (Things Fall Apart)
