“From the lover himself, Dan Deacon.”
So ended the letter Dan Deacon sent me in response to my latest fawning letter. Truly, scores upon scores of us have fallen under the spell of Mr. Deacon. Arcade Fire certainly fell for him, hence why he opened so many of their shows this past March. If you were wondering if the Fire/Deacon love affair was over, then go ahead and answer that question with a vigorous “heck no.” Once again, Deacon is being tapped to open for Arcade Fire, this time for a number of shows this August. While seeing both Arcade Fire and Dan Deacon in one show would be impressive enough, these shows also feature high-profile openers like Spoon, tUnE-yArDs, Owen Pallett, The Unicorns (!), and, holy christ, The Constantines (!!). Truly, love is alive and well if Dan Deacon and The Constantines may share a stage for a night.
Even the greatest lovers need a little alone time, though. Hence why a number of Dan Deacon solo dates are peppered into the coming months, both preceding and amongst the dates with Arcade Fire. Beyond that, Deacon is currently in the studio working on the follow-up to his 2012 record America. At the moment, that record is untitled, but I am throwing the following suggestion into the ring: The Infinite Lover.
