Danny Wolfers (a.k.a. Legowelt) announces first physical release as Occult Orientated Crime

Surrounded as he frequently is by the numerous digital synthesizers that he’s acquired over his roughly 20-year career, it’s easy to analogize between that and Dutch musician Danny Wolfers’s numerous aliases; no single synth is good enough, and likewise, no single moniker can encapsulate the range of styles that he electronically explores on a regular basis! Legowelt is the name by which most people know him, and even under that name alone, one might struggle to select a single sub-genre under which you’d feel confident placing his entire discography. The recent releases Crystal Cult 2080 and The Paranormal Soul are both relatively opaque, despite the prominent bleeps that have undoubtedly found their way into obscure dance establishments.

Speaking of style-morphing though, Wolfers has just announced Just A Clown On Crack, a new (and his first) physical release under the name Occult Orientated Crime. It’s out May 11 on Dekmantel, and even though the name of the album might suggest a hyperactive variation on carnival music, Wolfers explicitly alludes to something focused and generally chaos-free. Watch the video for the track “Japanese Trains” right after he explains the sound of this particular identity:

The OOC sound is an accumulation of twenty years of musical training and research and what effect it has on the brain. Simply put: it’s electronic ambient music, which is more advanced compared to the music I’m creating with my Smackos alias. OOC is deeper and more melodic, less loose and vague but perhaps more intense. It can bring the listener into a completely different state of mind, you can almost call it ritualistic neuroscience music.

Just A Clown On Crack tracklisting:
