Don Caballero Gang Banged live

Don Caballero Gang Banged live http://www.tinymixtapes.com/sites/default/files/1210/news-12-10-don-cab.jpg

Math rock Instrumental rock stalwarts Don Caballero are releasing their first live album on November 27 via Joyful Noise. Kinda surprising that, in their long career, the venerable Pittsburgh band hasn’t officially released a live album. Anyway, the record, titled Gang Banged with a Headache and Live (see what I did with the headline?) documents a 2003 Chicago show featuring the reformed lineup of Gene Doyle, Jeff Ellsworth, Jason Jouver, and (obviously) Damon Che. The “authorized bootleg” features material from over a decade of the band’s career, spanning from their 1993 debut For Respect to songs that would eventually end up on 2006’s World Class Listening Problem.

Gang Banged with a Headache and Live tracklist:

01. Fire Back About Your New Baby’s Sex
02. And And And, He Lowered The Twin Down
03. In the Absence of Strong Evidence to the Contrary, One May Step Out of the Way of the Charging Bull
04. Delivering The Groceries at 138 Beats Per Minute
05. Don Caballero 3
06. Let’s Face It Pal, You Haven’t Lived Afro Pop
07. Belted Sweater
08. Palm Trees In The Fecking Bahamas
09. I Never Liked You
10. From the Desk of Elsewhere Go

School of Seven Bells announce Put Your Sad Down EP, co-headlining tour with Twin Sister

Although dream pop seems to be a very straightforward genre, it never quite grasps how weird my dreams are. Sure, there are plenty of bands that capture the feeling of floating over fields of gold, but how many capture the feeling of having a paddle-boat ride with Jay-Z? Not a one. Maybe Brooklyn duo School of Seven Bells will give it a shot when they release their new EP, Put Your Sad Down, on November 13 through Vagrant. While I’m personally expecting more of a drifting-through-space feeling from the EP’s four original tracks, maybe they’ll capture that 0ld “David Bowie is hitting on my mom, while I eat ramen noodle soup” feeling. Aside from a cover of Silver Apples’ “Lovefingers,” that’s the only thing I really want from this EP. Got a good feeling that half of my wishes are coming true!

And now I’m reminded of my favorite quote: “Dream pop loves company, especially when it’s another dream pop band.” Or something like that. The point is, School of Seven Bells will be heading on a co-headlining tour this November with their similarly dreamy contemporaries Twin Sister. It’ll be a short, sweet tour, lasting less than a week — much like a dream, which typically tends to last less than a week. If not, watch out, you may be in a coma.

Put Your Sad Down tracklist:

01. Put Your Sad Down
02. Secret Days
03. Faded Heart
04. Lovefingers
05. Painting A Memory

School of Seven Bells + Twin Sister dates:

11.26.12 - Washington, DC - Black Cat
11.27.12 - Philadelphia, PA - Union Transfer
11.28.12 - Brooklyn, NY - Music Hall of Williamsburg
12.01.12 - Portland, ME - SPACE
12.02.12 - Cambridge, MA - The Sinclair

Le1f heads out on European tour wut wut wut wut

Earlier this year, NYC rapper Le1f put out a video for his song “Wut.” I’m leading with this information, because “Wut” is a great song and that video had the MC sitting on top of a guy with a Pikachu mask. Obviously, it’s the sort of thing you should watch a thousand times. You should probably also download Le1f’s Dark York mixtape from Greedhead, because it is good and it is free and you clearly have nothing to lose. Now, put on this Pikachu mask; there’s more.

As FACT reports, Le1f is going on a European tour later this month. IS THE PIKACHU MASK DUDE GOING TO BE THERE? Sorry. That Pikachu mask guy is the defining image of 2012. But truth is, Le1f’s rapping is great with or without a Pikachu mask anywhere in the vicinity. He will rap so hard that all of the people at these European dates will say “Wow, that guy can really rap.” It is true, because he can.

Le1f dates:

10.24.12 - Berlin, Germany - Berghain Kantine
10.25.12 - Munich, Germany - Kong
10.27.12 - Graz, Austria - Elevate Festival
10.29.12 - Paris, France - Point Ephemere
10.30.12 - Lisbon, Portugal - ZBD
11.01.12 - London, UK - Birthdays in Dalston
11.02.12 - Gothenburg, Sweden - Yaki-Da

Brooklyn Ele*bleep*ctronic Mus*bloop*ic Festival annou*krrr*nces full line*eeee*up

We’ll go ahead and get this out of the way upfront: no Skrillex at this year’s Brooklyn Electronic Music Festival. I know you’re sad, but the full lineup has just been announced, and while there is an absence of arena-filling star power, it’s chock full of artists pushing the envelope while using computers to produce music that you, our dear readers, may actually want to listen to.

The festival is being put on by promoters MeanRed and will take place over two days and nights across multiple Brooklyn venues big and small, including Glasslands, Brooklyn Bowl, and the Music Hall of Williamsburg, among others. Special rooms will be hosted by the industry’s most taste-making-est of labels, with Friends of Friends, DJ-Kicks, and Extended Play all signed up to make you feel claustrophobic as beats are thumped and knobs are twirled. If you enjoy watching people watching computers (and dancing, maybe?), then you should know that tickets are on sale now. Full lineup below!

Grimes cancels a few Canadian dates due to health reasons :-(

“O Canada”? More like “Oh no, Canada! :-(” Sorry, this story was written by an aggregation of all Presidential Debate comments posted on Twitter within the past 12 hours that gained a semblance of sentient life and is now worming its way through the internet, talking about Mitt’s teeth and writing shitty intros to stories about non-shitty music, all while skirting the issues and inappropriately using emoticons and hiding any real opinions behind the acronym “LOL.” But there’s very little to LOL about in the Twitter announcement by Perryscope Concerts and Ms. Claire Boucher that a few Grimes shows have been canceled due to issues with tinnitus and hearing loss. SOL. (Sad Out Loud.) She writes, “Hey guys, so sorry 4 the cancelled shows. im having trouble w hearing loss, tinnitus & am trying 2 stay away from loud music 4 a bit -_-“. So, Vancouver is still on, but Calgary, Saskatoon, and Winnipeg, I’m afraid that you’ll be :-( and SOL.
