Eleventh Dream Day announce new album Works for Tomorrow on Thrill Jockey

Good mooooooorning, internet!!! I know, I know: last night when you went to bed, everything in the world of 1980s-style, guitar-based indie rock music was boring and terrible. But yo. This morning, everything is totally and irrevocably DIFFERENT.

That’s because your favorite “real life” independent rock & roll band Eleventh Dream Day just announced today that they’ll be releasing a new album on Thrill Jockey this summer. Seriously. Let that sink in a minute. How do you feel? I know. Brave new world. Hold my hand. Let’s read on.

It’s called Works for Tomorrow and marks the first album to feature two guitarists (with the recent addition of Jim Elkington of Brokeback/Tweedy) since way back in 1994, which, according to the ghost of Kurt Cobain that constantly appears at the TMT office to panhandle for drug money, was kind of a long time ago. The album was recorded and mixed at Wilco’s renowned Loft Studio and Mayfair Recordings, and the LP version — which you can pre-order right now from the Thrill Jockies — features “alternate cover artwork” (because fuck that original cover, right?) and comes “pressed on virgin vinyl with a free download card.” There’s also a CD version too, which, if you ask me, is the preferred way to listen to ANY rock band born of the 1980s.

Works for Tomorrow is out July 24 on Thrill Jockey. Here’s the tracklist:

01. Vanishing Point
02. Works For Tomorrow
03. Cheap Gasoline
04. Snowblind
05. Go Tell It
06. The People’s History
07. Requiem For 4 Chambers
08. The Unknowing
09. Deep Lakes
10. End With Me
