Fields Festival announces lineup ft. Sun Ra, Wolf Eyes, Lower Dens; listen to premiere of new Dan Deacon track

The second edition of Fields Festival is upon us. The three-day camping/art/music fest, which began back in 2014, is happening again just north of Baltimore City, with TMT-friendly performers like Wolf Eyes, Lower Dens, Container, Deakin (Animal Collective), Weyes Blood, Eartheater, Nautical Almanac (!), Nerftoss, Horse Lords, Pictureplane, and the Sun Ra Arkestra, who are coming all the way from Saturn. But music’s only one part of the experience. There’ll also be comedy (haha!), theater, film, installations, dance, poetry, yoga, and much, much more. Like, this is it. This is everything.

And because this is a cool Maryland festival, it’s no surprise that hometown hero Dan Deacon will be performing too. In fact, to celebrate, Dan Deacon has released an excerpt from a new, unreleased piece that he’ll perform in its entirety at the fest. It’s called “An Opal Toad With Obsidian Eyes: Movement 1,” and it’s performed by Deacon alongside Calder Quartet and NOW Ensemble. Listen to it below.

Tickets for Fields Festival go on sale tomorrow, May 5, at noon. Grab ‘em here, and get your camping gear and mosquito/people repellent ready before August 19-21.
