Filmmaker duo behind Nick Cave doc announces screenings of Who Is Gil Scott-Heron?

Super cool music/art/film duo Iain Forsyth and Jane Pollard are back with another documentary of another musical visionary. The pair received a BAFTA nomination last year for their fact/fiction-melding Nick Cave doc 20,000 Days on Earth. Their latest venture is Who Is Gil Scott-Heron?. I’m gonna let you in on a little secret: it’s about the beloved, late Gil Scott-Heron.

Perhaps the bigger secret comes in the form of a question: “How can I actually view Who Is Gil Scott-Heron??” The flick is getting a limited release across North America in late May/early June. Angelenos can catch the doc at the Regent Theatre starting May 28; Portland, OR people can go to the Hollywood Theater starting June 4; Burlington, VT residents can find it at Merrill’s Roxy Cinema on June 12; and Bellingham, WA fans can attend screenings starting June 14 at the Pickford Film Center. For the rest of you, watch a clip from the film on Gil Scott-Heron’s website, which is also where you can check back to see if the film is coming to your town. More screenings will be announced throughout the summer. Attendees will get a download card for a free copy of Mr. Scott-Heron’s latest release, Nothing New.
