The Flaming Lips to Perform Dark Side of the Moon at Bonnaroo

The Flaming Lips to Perform Dark Side of the Moon at Bonnaroo

In an interview with Spinner, The Flaming Lips’ head weirdo Wayne Coyne revealed the group’s plans to perform Dark Side of The Moon in its entirety at this year’s Bonnaroo. “As of yesterday, we’re gonna do it at Bonnaroo at the midnight slot, the first night. We do a Flaming Lips set then starting about 2:30 we do this Dark Side of the Moon thing. In that sense, it’s perfect for that. It lets you play a little bit longer.”

I recently caught up with Coyne for a fake interview to talk DSOTM, bubblegum, and his penis.

Are you really performing DSOTM at Bonnaroo?
What’s DSOTM?

Dark Side of the Moon, by Pink Floyd.
Oh, yes, we are.

What do you think of bubblegum?
I like to chew it and then string it around my penis.

Huh. That’s kinda weird.
You’re kinda weird. And I hate your gutz!

The complete Bonnaroo lineup is currently TBA, but we’ll update you once the lineup is confirmed.

Gil Scott-Heron to Release First Album in 15 Years; Be Sure to Catch Revolution Streaming on Hulu Shortly Afterward

On February 9, soul legend and proto-rap pioneer Gil Scott-Heron is releasing I’m New Here on XL (wait a second, I’m fairly sure he is not new here. Scott-Heron always says the darndest things!), his first LP since 1994’s Spirits.

Two songs off the album are currently streaming on Scott-Heron’s website. The first, “Me and the Devil,” is spaced-out soul, and Scott-Heron’s gravel-paved voice sounds like it may actually be bleeding profusely (check out the video for this track at the Chocolate Grinder). The second, “Where Did the Night Go,” is spoken word about putting on socks and writing letters and staying up late… but really obsessively, like a One Hour Photo-themed slumber party, only somewhat politically minded.

Here’s the tracklist:

01. On Coming from a Broken Home (Pt. 1)
02. Me and the Devil

03. I’m New Here

04. Your Soul and Mine

05. Parents (Interlude)

06. I’ll Take Care of You

07. Being Blessed (interlude)

08. Where Did the Night Go

09. I Was Guided (Interlude)

10. New York Is Killing Me

11. Certain Things (Interlude)

12. Running

13. The Crutch

14. I’ve Been Me (Interlude)

15. On Coming from a Broken Home (Pt. 2)

EL Perro del Mar Tours, Continues to Defy Miley Cyrus with Assertion That Love Is Not Pop

So maybe it’s true that, as El Perro del Mar’s newest album reminds us, Love Is Not Pop. The tour in support of the album, however, kicks off February 14 in Philly, certainly a convenient time for those of you infected by — I mean BLESSED BY — the love bug. One more thing to draw little heart balloons around: Swedish electro pop diva Robyn has remixed El Perro del Mar’s “Change of Heart.” It’s her first remix for another artist and it’s pretty kickin’.
