According to an update from All Tomorrow’s Parties, Godspeed You! Black Emperor have (smartly!) decided to end their too-long hiatus. In fact, the group has already been confirmed to both curate and perform on all three nights of ATP’s Weekend 1 Nightmare Before Christmas festival, which runs from December 3-5 at Butlins Holiday Centre in Minehead.
And that’s not it either. GYBE, whose album Lift Your Skinny Fists recently made #7 on our decade list, will soon announce a “handful of British and European shows, and then 9 American towns.”
But what about some new songs? According to the band’s statement:
between now and the live-dates, there’ll be rivers of noise and distraction. and the internet is a petty tyrannical monster. please remember that really all that matters is the keep on keeping on. and all that really matters is the shows. and physical engagement in the world. and folks like us and folks like you.
Does “noise and distraction” mean a new album? Hopefully. Godspeed I’m! So Excited.
