Now you can waste even more time at work: Google launches Music Lab so you can make music in your browser

Google continues to a be a groundbreaking force in our collective quest to avoid work/school/life outside the internet. No longer will our mid-afternoon, post-lunch hours be relegated to simple online searches and internet shopping. Nay! Now you can turn those precious moments of procrastination into precious moments of something else: art.

Google is bringing us the Chrome Music Lab, a group of interactive instruments that let you make tunes right inside your internet browser. The site uses Web Audio API to help you crank out killer harmonies inside your browser window, and ut even includes helpful tools to teach you the basics of harmonics, rhythms, chords, and arpeggios. There’s also a sequencer and a tool that allows you to record vocals through your computer mic and make ‘em all crazy. (Scientific term.)

This is all made possible as part of America’s Music in Our Schools month, which will be sure to provide the gift of music to children and bored adults for years to come.
