I’m guessing Alison Chesley’s been in this game for far too long NOT TO have realized by now that a little “tough love” is the best PR sometimes. Besides hanging around some famous friends and just generally making the cello seem cool again (Kurt Cobain totally ruined it in the 90s), she’s been kinda chill for the past couple of years now, having not released a proper solo album as Helen Money since 2013. “What’s she been up to?” None of your business, that’s what.

Point IS: she’s back now. And she’s got a new album for release on Thrill Jockey (her first for the label). Here’s the facts about it. So listen up:

• It’s called Become Zero.

• It was written after the death of her parents and features her trademark use of manipulated cello alongside the drum work of Jason Roeder (Sleep, Neurosis), keys work of Rachel Grimes (Rachel’s), and sound effects/samples of Will Thomas (who also co-produced and mixed the record in L.A.).

• It is due on September 16.

• You can pre-order it on CD and LP directly from Thrill Jockey right now.

• You can view, highlight, copy, and paste the album’s tracklisting (as well has her upcoming tour dates around the UK and Europe with Shellac, who are still on MySpace) down below until your heart’s content, for all she cares. But other than that, you’re on your own. For now.
