The Jesus and Mary Chain announce new album Damage and Joy, debut new song “Amputation”

Look, it’s been awhile since The Jesus and Mary Chain put out new music. To put it in perspective, when they last released a record in 1998, “alternative rock” was still a marginally useful phrase. Crazy, I know.

Get ready to put all sorts of dated phrases back in your lexicon, though, because The Jesus and Mary Chain are back with their first new album since reuniting nearly a decade ago. It’s called Damage and Joy, and it’s set for release March 24 through ADA/Warner. It features contributions from bassist Phil King (formerly of Lush), drummer Brian Young, and Youth, who also produced the record. It will be the band’s first album since Munki 18 years ago.

To further commemorate the historic announcement, the band also shared the first album track, “Amputation,” on Steve Lamacq’s radio show on BBC 6 Music. You can check it out below:
