Joe Lally has a new record out this month, so everybody take one second and stop wishing for a new Fugazi album!

Look, we all want a Fugazi reunion. But we shan’t get what we want, not today at least. What we will get, though, is a new record from one-fourth of Fugazi — specifically, bassist Joe Lally. On April 26, Lally will put out Why Should I Get Used to It, his first record since 2007’s Nothing Is Underrated. Dischord will be releasing the record, but surprisingly, they will do so in conjunction with the Lally-owned Tolotta Records. What’s so strange about this is that Tolotta have not put out anything since 2002 and the label’s website states that they’ve been defunct ever since.

While Lally’s previous records carried a heavy sense of DC-ness (seeing as they featured contributions from Lally’s Fugazi bandmates and were recorded in notable DC studios Dischord House and Inner Ear), Why Should I Get Used To It seems to skew closer to Italy than the District of Columbia. The album was recorded in Rome — the city that Lally now calls home — and instead of featuring DC scene veterans, the record is heavy with contributions from Lally’s recent European tourmates Elisa Abela and Emanuele Tomasi.

Lally has a handful of European dates scheduled for next month. However, the bassist should be adding more in the near future, as he plans to tour throughout 2011. Fugazi, for their part, will continue touring forever in my dreams and in reality probably not anytime soon.
