Little Dragon tour Machine Dreams, appear on Gorillaz’s Plastic Beach, raise question: Is nothing real anymore?
By Erika H on Feb 25 2010
Gothenburg, Sweden’s Little Dragon have been getting less little year by year since their 2007 self-titled debut on Peacefrog. Their second full-length, Machine Dreams, came out last fall, an upbeat mixture of electronics and soul. According to their website, a third album is in the works, but first comes Gorillaz’s Plastic Beach, out March 9.
Yes, the newest album from Gorillaz features an impressive line-up of guest artists: Lou Reed, Snoop Dogg, De La Soul, and The Clash’s Mick Jones and Paul Simonen, to name a few. Little Dragon have one up on all these hot shots, though: unlike the other guests, they appear on two tracks (Bobby Womack and Hypnotic Brass Ensemble are also featured twice, though not in the same pairings). Take that, Mos Def! Now the question remains: what does Little Dragon look like animated?
Animated or not, Little Dragon will be touring North America for the next couple months to continue promoting Machine Dreams.

The White Stripes want YOU to watch movies about THEM at special midnight screenings
By Kid Midnight on Feb 25 2010
Back in the antiquated world of 2007, The White Stripes went on a lovely tour of EVERY province in Canada (C’mon, that’s not hard! How many are there? Like four? I only remember four.) and the whole time Emmet Malloy was filming it all. The movie he made, The White Stripes: Under Great White Northern Lights, is going to be released on DVD and Blu-ray on March 16, but before the big day AMC Theatres will be hosting special midnight screenings. Look ma! Midnight screenings aren’t just for nerds and Harry Potter fans anymore!
All midnight screenings take place on March 11 at the following venues:
Washington, DC – Hoffman 22
Detroit, MI – Forum 30
Philadelphia, PA – Neshaminy 24

Seattle, WA – Pacific Place 11
Boston, MA – Boston Common 19
New Jersey, NJ – Palisades 21
New York, NY – Empire 25
Atlanta, GA – Barrett 24
Fans unable to attend the midnight screenings (or one of the many additional screenings listed below) can also “host their own screenings” by “purchasing a special screening kit,” but that sounds really dumb, so I’ll stop talking about it. Tickets to screenings can be purchased at the box offices, and further information about the DVD/Blu-ray can be found at White Stripes central.

Thom Yorke Reveals New Band Name, “Atoms for Peace,” Announces April Tour with Flying Lotus
By Mr P on Feb 25 2010
Thom Yorke, former member of Oasis, has announced an April tour with his newly formed band, featuring Nigel Godrich (longtime Radiohead producer), Joey Waronker (R.E.M./Beck drummer), Mauro Refosco, and Flea (from Anthony Kiedis’ smellhole). While for a short while the group was known as “Thom Yorke ????” (mostly for the Coachella poster), they have now finally confirmed an official band name: Atoms for Peace. The name comes from the title of track six off Yorke’s solo album, The Eraser. (Fun fact: Radiohead would be called “Anyone Can Play Guitar” if they went off track six of Pablo Honey.)
Don’t know about you guys, but I think I might like “Thom Yorke ????” better.
Dates for Atoms for Peace’s April tour, ending at this year’s Coachella festival, are below. And it looks like Flying Lotus will get the Thom Yorke Bump this time.

Ruby Suns Tour in Support of Fight Softly; Mock Winter Storms in America
By Annapocalypse on Feb 25 2010
While the entire East Coast of the United States was under a winter storm death watch, Ryan McPhun of The Ruby Suns was hanging out in New Zealand wearing shorts and mocking everyone in a winter coat and scarf. Don’t worry though, Ryan will get his when The Ruby Suns tour the US in March and April, when it’s still (sort of) cold. Except they’re starting the tour in his native state of California, so the dude pretty much never needs to buy any item of clothing that extends past his elbows or knees.
