k-os tours with The Flobots after schooling the East Coast with Drake

The “melding of hip-hop and indie” discussion may be getting a bit tired these days, but it’s still relevant when you talk about k-os and his fourth and most recent album, Yes!. Some facts: “1234” is a response to Feist’s song “4321”; “Wish I Knew Natalie Portman” (one of Indie-with-a-capital-I’s “it” girls, next to Zooey Deschanel) curiously takes from Phantom Planet’s “California”; and Metric’s Emily Haines contributes to “Uptown Girl.” But hip-hop and indie were never closer than when a TMT report announced in February both a Broken Social Scene song featuring k-os (“Windsurfing Nation”) and a k-os tour supporting Drake (ending May 8). Since then, k-os has announced more dates with The Flobots, beginning later in May.
