Following up 2016’s Blue Cheese, Dunedin, New Zealand’s Kane Strang has shared a new single from his upcoming (still officially unannounced) new album. On “Oh So You’re Off I See,” Strang trades in the bedroom for the studio, and the lonesome life of a solo recording artist for the rich, rewarding magic of full-band collaboration. The resultant sound aims for something more robust and refined than anything off of Blue Cheese.
Coincidentally enough, “Oh So You’re Off I See” is also what Strang’s family and friends are about to start saying to him, as he is set to tour North America for the first time at the end of the month, marking the very first time he will have played outside of New Zealand.
What with the current state of sociopolitical affairs in this country (not to mention this whole mess with Charles Oakley and The Knicks!), Strang has picked quite the moment to come to this part of the world. Regardless, he’ll be stopping all over this crazy country (and Canada’s crazy country) throughout March, including dates at Savannah Stopover, SXSW, and Treefort music festivals.
