Kanye West keeps the momentum going by announcing a new solo album on top of his Jay-Z collab, even throwing some bassoon on that muthafucka

Just because his newest album, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy (TMT Review), is barely two months old, it doesn’t mean Kanye West has plans to not release new music for another few years. In fact, he’s doing quite the opposite. On his Twitter profile this week, Kanye announced that, along with his Watch the Throne team-up with Jay-Z slated for March, he’s already got a new solo album that should be ready by this summer. To make this announcement, West used about five million more exclamation points than I did. Tweeting about the new album, Kanye revealed that “THIS IS HIGH END RAP MUSIC. I just threw some bassoon on this muthafucka.” I don’t know about the rest of you, but I can’t wait to hear what Kanye sounds like when he goes further down the rabbit hole with his classical side.

As for Watch the Throne, Jay-Z spoke to MTV News in November about his work on the album:

“This is another level of that recording,” Hov explained. “Because Kanye, I’ve seen him — really he’s like a brother to me — I’ve seen him from the beginning to where he is now. And to see him as a producer and to see how he’s growing as a producer and as an artist, for me, on another level, it’s enjoyable. I’m watching the guy that I pretty much mentored become his own guy, with his own opinion. It’s fantastic.”
