The Kills release flexi disc for Record Store Day Black Friday, chart winter tour

It’s hard to believe that it’s been almost a decade since The Kills first unleashed a fuzzy little tornado of psychotic rock ‘n’ roll onto that first unsuspecting audience. In the intervening years, the duo have toured the globe, received numerous critical accolades, started hit side projects (The Dead Weather, duh) and married supermodels (Kate Moss, duh.) Their songs have featured on myriad film and TV projects, including Gossip Girl and that one show about the unconventional doctor. (Yes, I know it’s called House.) In the immortal words of Virginia Slims, “You’ve come a long way baby.”

So what’s next for these übercool rock ‘n’ roll banshees? If I said opening a Communist Russia-themed waterpark in rural Scranton, would you believe me? No, of course not: that’s stupid. Okay, so how about if I said “going on tour”? Yes, because obviously they’re going on tour. After the past few months playing Lollapalooza, David Lynch’s new Paris-based, Mulholland Drive-influenced Club Silencio, and a string of South American dates, Mr. Hince and Ms. Mosshart will be packing up the ol’ Airstream trailer once more and heading through Europe this month in support of their latest album Blood Pressures on Domino. Then in the new year, to celebrate one truly rockin’ decade, they’ll be swinging back stateside for a bunch of shows, including a special birthday party for the band at New York’s Terminal 5. Also in the works: a special “Limited Edition Postcard Flexi Disc of “The Last Goodbye”” available exclusively on Record Store Day Black Friday, November 25. What the hell is a postcard flexi disc? I don’t know, but it sounds super rad, doesn’t it? Scientists refer to this as The Kills effect.
