King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard announce first of five planned albums for 2017

“Rattlesnake, rattlesnake, rattlesnake, rattlesnake, rattlesnake, rattlesnake, rattlesnake, rattlesnake, rattlesnake, rattlesnake.”

That insightful refrain is the chorus and pretty much the bulk of the lyrics from King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard’s latest single, surprisingly called “Rattlesnake.”

What the group lack in lyrical adventurousness they more than make up for in artistic ambition with the announcement of their next (and ninth) album Flying Microtonal Banana, which will be released February 24 and available for pre-order now. As the title suggests, the album was recorded within the self-imposed restriction of using microtonal instruments after frontman Stu Mackenzie was gifted a homemade microtonal guitar from a friend.

The ambition doesn’t stop there, though. Apparently, Flying Microtonal Banana is the first of five albums they plan to release in 2017, so maybe they can be forgiven for being short on lyrics at the moment.

Obviously, if King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard aren’t in the studio, they’re on the road. Check out the dates here, and watch the video for “Rattlesnake” below.
