La Luz, the coolest non-oversize-Hawaiian-shirt-wearing surf band in the game, had a nasty van accident last week while driving back to their hometown of Seattle from a date in Boise. The four-piece, consisting of Shana Cleveland (guitar/vocals), Marian Li Pino (drums/vocals), Abbey Blackwell (bass/vocals), and Alice Sandahl (keyboard/vocals), have had to bow out of their remaining tour dates with of Montreal, which is a huge bummer to anyone who thinks going to the beach and sipping barrel-aged tequila with David Lynch while the sun sets in a shimmering haze would be the best possible thing that could ever happen.
See, not only was the band’s van totaled and their gear destroyed, but the members are also now recovering from injuries. But you can do something nice for these ladies, who have done so many nice things for our ears! The band’s label, Hardly Art, has set up a PayPal account to help them combat medical bills, buy a new van and equipment, and replace damaged merch. 100% of the proceeds go to the band.
