Leaving Records to release latest offering from Japanese artist Seiho

You know how the Japanese have the incredible talent for absorbing Western cultural forms and transforming them into something uniquely Japanese, a similar but slightly better version than the original? Like Manga, computer games, weird game shows, and baseball. You can now add another thing to the list: experimental electronic music.

Case in point: Japanese artist Seiho, whose latest album Collapse is the result of condensing the best elements of PC Music’s pop sensibilities, the frenetic energy of the Teklife crew, and the rubbery glow of Hudson Mohawke into his own unique addition to the left-field electronic canon.

Touching on all points on the 2016 musical rainbow, Seiho combines free-jazz, techno, pop, and footwork into his own vision of the electronic landscape on Collapse. Leaving Records will be releasing the album May 20, and the lead single “Peach and Pomegranate” is below.

Seiho will also be visiting America in March for SXSW, with no doubt a touch of cultural re-appropriation.
