Light in the Attic unveils previously unreleased Terry Reid material, announces tour

As Aretha Franklin famously said, “There are only three things happening in England: The Rolling Stones, The Beatles and Terry Reid.” OK, this is probably only “famous” to you, if you’ve been sitting around reading Light in the Attic press releases and Terry Reid reissue pre-order listings all day like I have! But now you know. Aretha said this about ol’ “Superlungs,” as Reid was (somewhat creepily?) known, yessiree.

By now, you’ve probably figured out that Light in the Attic is releasing music from Terry Reid, and in this case, it’s The Other Side Of The River, a buncha previously unreleased material from the sessions for his 1973 LP River. This includes six new-to-you tracks and five alternate takes of tracks from River, demonstrating Reid’s considerable stylistic range. This very range/skill led to offers to be the main dude in Led Zeppelin and Deep Purple, but Reid was like “nah, I wanna do my own thing, and then ultimately tour with Cream, Fleetwood Mac, write some songs for CSNY, and open for the Stones on their 1969 tour.” Which is, ultimately, what he did. That’s the power of positive thinking, and of Terry Reid.
