Light at the end: Mazes announce release date for debut album A Thousand Heys

Time heals all wounds. And, in our case, delivers all records. Last fall, the British group Mazes (as opposed to their American counterparts in Chicago) signed to FatCat Records (another nationality hint) and made the obligatory announcement of a debut sometime in the “2011” future. People have been saying it for years now, but folks: the future is today.

As a cordial salutation, the debut full-length is entitled A Thousand Heys, and will be out on April 12. The album will consist of the singles and numerous tracks that have been circulating for the last year, plus (comparatively) new material. Listen to “Vampire Jive” here. If you’re still unsure about a band who, up until now, purport to be more comparison (Guided by Voices or Eric’s Trip, FatCat say) than anything else, then you should be happy to hear this next tidbit: Mazes are playing their first American show at SXSW (and some European dates with Dum Dum Girls), so you can decide for yourself.
