Mario Speedwagon’s Under The Radar News Round Up: Starlight Mints To Release New Album, Double Dagger To Tour, John Vanderslice Also Heads Out On Tour, REM Reissue Reckoning

Hey chumps, here’s the weekly roundup.

- Oklahoma’s Starlight Mints will release a new album, Change Remains, on July 21 (digitally June 9) via Barsuk Records. They’ll also be on tour this summer, starting out in Kansas City at Record Bar June 4 and ending in Birmingham, AL at Bottletree June 29. For a list of all their dates, check out their MySpace page. (Thanks to TMT reader, Penny!)

- Baltimore dudes Double Dagger are heading out on tour in support of their new record MORE. Shit kicks off at Baltimore, MD at the Floristree Space May 22 and continues, off-and-on, until July 11 in Cleveland, OH at Now That’s Class. Head over to the Thrill Jockey website for a full list of dates.

- John Vanderslice is also heading out on tour this summer in support of his new jam Romanian Names, out May 19 via his new home Dead Oceans. The ’Slice will be hitting the road with The Tallest Man on Earth (the cuddly Swede, not the actual tallest man on earth, which would be kind of awesome). His tour starts in Merced, CA at the Partisan May 17 and ends June 30 at The Casbah in San Diego, CA. There are a few festival dates after. You can check out a whole mess of dates at the Dead Oceans website.

- R.E.M.’s second record Reckoning will be reissued June 23 as part of a two-disc edition for the 25th anniversary. The Deluxe edition includes the original album remastered plus a bonus second disc of an unreleased live show recorded in Chicago at the Aragon Ballroom on July 7, 1984. But wait! There’s more. Not only can you get all that stuff, but also both Reckoning and Murmur will be reissued on audiophile quality 180-gram vinyl. For more information, head over to REM HQ (yes, head quarters).

L8R bitches.
