Melvins release cover album Everybody Loves Sausages, which would be more accurate if replaced with Pizza

The Melvins are about to go all SkyMall on your ass, releasing shit you didn’t even know you needed and that, frankly, is pretty damn weird. This is the DNA analysis kit for your dog of albums. The box that laughs AT YOU (bitch) when you open it to find a cover songs collection. The personalized branding iron for the steaks you throw on the BBQ of guest singers. This is the forthcoming Melvins “unconventional covers album” called Everybody Loves Sausages, and it’s due April 30 on Ipecac Recordings.

Says Buzz Osborne, “This record will give people a peek into the kind of things that influence us musically. We REALLY like all of these songs along with the bands who actually wrote this stuff because first and foremost we are HUGE music fans.” He went on to describe the tracks as “stuff we listened to as we assembled our Portable Spa-in-a-Box for Cats™.”

Most of the tracks on the album feature the full-on Melvins crew of Osborne, Dale Crover, Jared Warren, and Coady Willis, but there are also a few Melvins Lite numbers on here, too, which leave Warren and Willis out of the equation and throw some Trevor Dunn in there. And what an equation it is! Guest vocalists include Scott Kelly (Neurosis), Clem Burke (Blondie), JG Thirwell (Foetus), John Waters, Jello Biafra, Caleb Benjamin (Tweak Bird), Mark Arm (Mudhoney), Kevin Rutmanis (The Cows), and Tom Hazelmeyer (Halo of Flies, Amphetamine Reptile Records founder.)
