Nas inks deal to write illest memoir in literary history, It Ain't Hard to Tell

School’s in session, and hip-hop master Nas just bumped his name to the top of the required reading list. The legendary Queens rapper recently signed a deal with HarperCollins to publish his first memoir, titled It Ain’t Hard to Tell. Rolling Stone contributing editor Touré will be working as a co-writer with Nasty Nas on his debut literary effort. Touré has apparently been trying to get Nas to pen his life story for 15 years, as he tweeted just over a week ago. “This is hip-hop history. We’ll tell his life and deconstruct some songs,” Touré promises. So there IS an educational component here. Prepare to get schooled.

So what kind of Nas gold can readers expect to find within the future book’s alabaster pages? Will there be details about Nas’ dad, jazz musician Olu Dara? Insider scoop on what Damian Marley likes to get at Olive Garden? Hot gossip about his relationships with Mary J. Blige and Kelis? His charitable work with non-profit afterschool music program P’Tones Records? So many possibilities. Just don’t compare this book project to sometimes-rival Jay-Z’s 2010 memoir Decoded Oh wait… it looks like Rolling Stone already did. It Ain’t Hard to Tell hits shelves fall 2012.
