Ho-lee Shiyat. With all these earthquakes and hurricanes, I was just about to declare New York City a wasteland, but this jobless urban decay concrete shit always comes up with something to make you pay its unwarranted high rents. This time Bloomberg, fearing my departure, got on his red rotary phone in the basement map room (I picture it poorly lit with blinking fluorescent lights) and recruited all the following to play a huge festival in Brooklyn:

Tim Hecker
Rhys Chatham
Grouper
Phill Niblock
Alan Licht
Mark Fell
Loren Connors
Kevin Drumm
Phoenecia
Rene Hell
Blues Control
James Ferraro
The Men
Xeno & Oaklander
La Big Vic
Palmetto Moon Electronic Group
Mandelbrot & Skyy
Forma
Joe Lentini
Ryley Walker

DJ sets by:
Veronica Vasicka
Spinoza
Ric Leichtung
Emilie Friedlander

Visuals by:
Yr Friend Matthew
EyeBodega
Jon Williams & Rebecca Gaffney

I’m not kidding. All these guys. At once. The Neon Marshmallow Music Festival NYC 2011 will be a three-day event taking place October 14-16 at Public Assembly (extended and with added full-spectrum Bunker soundsystem) in Brooklyn. For $60, you can now acquire very limited complete passes. If you’re an asshole and need more justification for that price, then Bloomberg has also prepared an hour of Reyka vodka open bar on Friday and Saturday for all attendees. Oh god, I’m trapped here forever! Wait, Neon Marshmallow is based out of Chicago?? Goddammit! I knew this was too good to be our doing. Damn you, Bloomberg!

Important note: Neon Marshmallow released a cassette compilation with their Chicago fest back in June this year, so keep your eyes peeled or your ear to the ground or your fingers moistened and in the breeze, just in case NYC gets a corresponding comp as well.
